Cannock M1s 1 - 2 Preston

Cannock M4s 2 - 1 Worcester
Cannock mens 4’s welcomed Worcester 5’s to chase park on an overcast Saturday afternoon, Worcester being 3 points above Cannock were a team Cannock knew they could beat.
Cannock started well we several great chances, first Mark Cotterill putting the ball wide then David Wigg hitting a ball wide, at this stage there was only one team in it.
Worcester then started to play and had a chance of their own which was dealt with by returning goalkeeper Conor Beardmore who made a brilliant sliding tackle to take both the man and ball.
This spurred Cannock into life again and they started to press hard, Returning legend Jamie Daniels found himself free in the D with a clear shot unfortunately the Worcester keeper was up to it, but he passed the ball in the air back to JD who riffled it into the top left corner, a better goal you will find hard to find this side of Christmas. Cannock’s celebrations were short lived and Worcester equalised.
Worcester found a new lease of life and gained a short corner which was defended well. It was then Cannock’s turn to attack and some great work from the midfield who played their hearts out all game broke into the Worcester D and Dom Hoare got a deflection which by passed the keeper and ended in the back of the net.
Cannock seemed to find an extra gear after their second goal and carried on pressing for the cushion goal, they eventually won their first short corner of the game, only for Dave Wigg to fall on and lose the ball.
Worcester then started to work harder and Cannock seemed to tire, the pressure was beginning to show on Cannock they knew the 3 points were within touching distance. Worcester pushed hard but Cannock were resolute and kept them out, Cannock got a break and a ball hit into the D seemed to be wasted but Wigg kept on running for it and beat the defender to it only to see his push to go slightly wide.
The final minutes of the game were hard to stand for their injured skipper but the 3 points were won in the end, plenty of chances went a missing in this game but the result is all that counts Cannock 4’s 2 Worcester 5’s 1, double header next week same again ordered please

Cannock M5s 5 - 1 Old Wulfs
Cannock 5ths faced Old Wulfs in what turned out to be a fiery encounter. Unfortunately, an injury to Dom Hoare in the previous game meant that he was unable to umpire, so Liam Daffern gamely volunteered to stand in for the first half.
Despite having an experienced side and several subs, the home side found it hard to break through the Old Wulfs defence and ended up under real pressure for the first 20 minutes or so. Cannock's engine seemed to be misfiring somewhat, but luckily skipper Rufus Horn had clearly warmed his motor up prior to the start and pulled off a number of fine saves.
Eventually, the deadlock was broken by an unstoppable shot from Tom Hyde. A second was soon to follow, engineered in midfield by Callum McGarrie who finished off the move himself, following a neat return pass from Jonny Machin.
It looked as though Cannock would take a 2 goal cushion into the break, but a shot going wide was adjudged to have been going in when it struck a Cannock foot. Despite getting his stick to the ball, Horn was unable to keep the resultant flick put of the net. Half tim: 2-1 to Cannock.
Andy Hoare relieved Daffern of his umpiring responsibilities, allowing him to play. The second half was a more one sided affair as Cannock stretched their lead with further goals from Hyde, Machin and Don Clark, who was making his annual 5th team appearance.
However, the became much more physical, with green cards awarded to players on both sides. Players also needed to be physically separated and the game threatened to turn ugly. Eventually, the umpires instructed the captains to speak to their respective players about their conduct. Thankfully, both sides heeded the warning and the game ended without further incident.

Cannock L1s 1 - 2 Oxford Hawks

Cannock L2s 2 - 3 Birmingham University

Cannock L3s 3 - 3 WATS
Cannock Ladies 3rd team faced WATS 1st team away at aldersley in what felt like tropical weather compared to the last few weeks. The game started well with Cannock passing around WATS with ease and went 1-0 up early doors. WATS retaliated and drove hard to score and equalise. However Cannock showed some excellent teamwork skills and covered two further goals before half time. WATS were very quick on the break and we’re overloading on the right and slotted another goal past the Cannock keeper. The score at half time was 3-2.   The second half started strong and Cannock had a lot of possession but struggled a little to defend when WATS broke. Unfortunately this resulted in a further goal from them to equalise the match and end 3-3.

Cannock L4s 1 - 1 WATS
Cannock ladies 4s hosted 2nd in the league WATS knowing this was going to be a tough game . Cannock started brightly matching WATS skill across the pitch but unfortunately WATS managed to sneak a goal in before half time. Cannock continued to press and played some some great passing movement.  Cannock were soon rewarded with a goal from Jemma Bowen. With 15 minutes left to play Cannock had the majority of the possession but were unable to find the winning goal with the game finishing 1-1. Man of the match Ashlin McAree and dod Hannah Inglis.

Cannock L5s 2 - 1 Bloxwich
Cannock Ladies 5’s played a tremendous game against Bloxwich, with a well deserved 2-1 win. The first goal being scored from a short corner by Georgia Llyod from the top of the D within the first half. The next goal being scored by our captain Mandy McColl shortly followed from Georgia’s goal. Throughout the second half there were a few shots on goal but unfortunately for Cannock we didn’t manage to get any more goals. Cannock’s players of the match go to Mandy McColl and Bloxwich chose Lucy Norwood as theirs.
