Cannock M1s 6 - 2 Lichfield M3s

Lichfield visited Erasmus Darwin this week with Cannock looking to keep their lead at the top of the table. Cannock moved the ball excellently in the first 15 minutes with all players getting lots of touches in the opposition half. Cannock’s pressure eventually created the first goal with Widdowson putting it on a plate for Ley at the back post. The second goal came from debutant Hames, who deflected in at the near post. Hames played excellently in his first league game for the 1st XI. After missing numerous chances, Dippa got his first goal with a majestic reverse lob over the goal keeper. The score was 3-0 at half time.
Cannock didn’t play very well to start the second half, with Cannock’s own Statler and Waldorf (Chewy and Hudson) blaming a lack of passing from the home side. Lichfield got back in the game after a lovely finish to make it 3-1. Cannock continued to misplace passes and fail to make possession count. A number of players  were beginning to lose focus with even the normally calm Hodgett losing his temper with the umpire. It appeared the lack of Harris in the team was effecting his mental state. Cannock’s fourth came from a trademark Fleet drag flick blasting over the falling goal keeper.
Later into the half, Ley tackled excellently in his own half before playing a fantastic pass down the line to Hodgett who finished. Lichfield then benefited from some slack Cannock defending to make it 5-2. Cannock’s sixth came from arguably the greatest partnership in Cannock sporting history as Fleet and Martin shared passes as if they were on the play ground again. Fleet finished off the move to make it 6-2.  Cannock stay 5 points clear at the top

Cannock L1s - Doncaster

Cannock ladies 1s travelled to Doncaster following the pre Christmas fixture being cancelled due to ice. Cannock started strong and took the game to the home team but after some interesting umpiring decisions and poor Cannock play they found themselves on the back foot.
Cannock pushed to bring the game back but found themselves 4-1 losers in their first game back post Christmas.

Cannock Ladies 3s & 4s games both cancelled due to frozen pitches.
