Aldridge & Walsall 3s 0-6 Cannock 5s

Cannock 5ths travelled to Aldridge and Walsall with a very youthful side only fielding 4 adults to play their 3rds and were looking to do the double , it appeared as If A&W 3rds looked shocked that there was a hockey game on as they only had 8 players to start with to become 9 (with their keepers pads not fitting they had to play with a kicking back) and the game started nearly half hour later than scheduled.
With the regular skipper having to rule himself out due to a medical reason, Andy Hoare took the onfield captaincy role, the game started and despite Cannock extra numbers A&W at times somehow were making breaks and finding players, slowly Cannock started to move the ball around more and after 19 minutes of play Sam Cattle showed some silky skills in the D to make it 1-0 in favour to Cannock, Cattle also bagged himself another goal before half time to bring the score to 2-0. It must be mention A&W kicking back was doing great job stopping Cannock chances in the first half, even tho 2-0 up the first half seemed a very flat performance by Cannock lads, this left both the regular skipper and on field skipper for today very frustrated at half time and in agreement they needed to motative the boys to play the way of what it means to play for Cannock.
Fair play was requested in the 2nd half the boys did not disappoint with everyone putting in a heck of a shift, saw a much better 2nd half performance from Cannock dominating the game , Pete Westwood scored a goal before he then bagged a second goal hitting a baubbling ball sending the keeper the wrong way , shortly after Cannock on the attack again Sam cattle hit a ball which was defected in with the slightest of touch by Pete Westwood to give him his hat-trick , Cannock were not done yet and Chris Luke finding himself in space in the D hit the ball gloriously on his reverse stick and effort really deserved to be a goal however it went high, shortly after Chris did get the goal he deserved his first ever hockey goal this brought the score to 6-0 in favour of Cannock and this is how it would finish.

A mention must also go to Connor Lloyd Smith for keeping a clean sheet by having a wonderful game by being an on-looker for most of it and constantly asking if he could become a kicking back instead.

MOM went to Sam cattle both for us defensive work and attacking play

A result all players can be very proud of today and one that will be confident boost to the young players

Goal scorers, Pete Westwood x3, Sam cattle x2, Chris luke

Canock L2s 0 - 10 Loughborough University

Cannock ladies 2’s faced top of the league and in form Loughborough students 2’s. Travelling with the full pack of 16 Loughborough made 3 subs in the first 7 mins with intensity and depth getting the better of cannock which meant it wasn’t long before Loughborough opened the scoring with a smooth reverse strike through a crowded D.
Cannocks energy and spirit stayed high and we had several break always after strong challenges went in against the visitors centre back, unfortunately cannock couldn’t convert these into goals. Loughborough had a large lead of 7 by half time, despite keeper Penny Watt having the game of her life, meaning cannock needed to change their formation and start to attack this game. Moving into a 4/3/3 cannock had more attacking options and spent much of the second half in the Loughborough end. Unfortunately penalty corners won couldn’t be converted into goals.
Loughborough continued to sub every 3 mins allowing their forward line to out run our defence despite the strong tackles from cannocks back 4 Sammi Dunn, Jude Hitchens, Hettie Pigott and Courtney Hill. The final score saw Loughborough slot only 3 home in the second half making it 10-0. The umpires congratulated cannock post match for their positivity, spirit and determination.
MOM Sammi Dunn for her relentless tackles!
