NL Men’s Coach or Player Coach

Cannock Men’s Hockey Club are looking to recruit a bold, motivated and ambitious individual to coach the Men’s 1st team for the 2017-18 season and beyond.
Having been relegated from the Premier League 12 months ago, the team maintained their National League Status in the North Conference this season with a young side full of potential which now has the experience of a season in a tough Division. We are now looking to improve on that position with the ambition of promotion back to the National Premier League in the near future.
With a driven management team, the club are looking for an individual who has dedication and a passion to develop both junior and senior hockey players. Based between Junction 11 & 12 of the M6, the club owns two of the finest water based hockey pitches in the country, has its own club house, changing rooms, function room and bar facilities.
This position provides an opportunity for an experienced or developing and aspiring Coach, where Player Coaching options are also being considered.
Successful applicants will need to demonstrate:
- Experience of dealing with both junior and senior players, and an understanding of managing the workload of players involved in school, university and international programmes.
- Experience of coaching a team to a high standard
- Knowledge of the modern game, including indoor hockey.
- The ability to coach both technical and tactical considerations.
- Effective communication with players, parents, coaches and management within the club.
- Effective coaching and feedback through video analysis
- Hold a minimum of England Hockey UKCC Level 2 coaching qualification
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
- Experience of planning and delivering a pre-season programme of training and matches
- Experience of planning and delivering weekly coaching sessions & league matches on Saturdays or Sundays
- Ability to evaluate player performance and provide structured feedback
- Attend selection meetings to discuss squad selection, selection policy and to identify talented players for the 1st team setup.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a DBS check prior to commencement.
Junior and other club coaching opportunities could be available to applicants, if more coaching hours are desirable.
