Cannock conceded an early goal and then were undone a second time to go two goals down within 15 minutes. A Lisa Heeley goal reduced the deficit before half time but Cannock knew they had a job to do in the second half. Nick Bandurak and Dave Harris answered the call and their two goals put Cannock in the lead for the first time. West Herts pushed on again and evened the score. With 20 minutes to go it was Cannock’s turn to take control. West Herts continually tried to break up play and the game became feisty, resulting in two yellow cards for the opposition. As West Herts became tired and frustrated Cannock took their opportunity with two more goals apiece from Bandurak and Harris to complete their respective hat tricks and allowed Captain Andy Hodgetts to collect the Mixed National Trophy for the Midlands Club.
