Cannock M3s 3 – 2 Beeston

Cannock welcomed old rivals Beeston to Chase Park. With Beeston sitting 3rd in the table, Cannock looked to reign them in, who were sitting just 7 points ahead. The message to the Cannock lads was hard work and persistence would prevail in trying to claim all three points.
The game started with Cannock pressing hard and looking to distrubt the Beeston flow, and it seemed to work. Some good movement between the middle three allowed Cannock to open some avenues of attack. It wasn’t long before the first goal came, James Griffiths dribbling the ball along the top of the D, cutting back and struck the ball into the bottom corner. 1-0.
Beeston pushed to look for an equaliser but the wall of Tom Spencer and Angus Bulpitt were on hand to take any balls in and around the Cannock D. As Beeston attempted to run the ball through the middle Captain Tom Widdowson picked the ball from the oppositions stick. This allowed Cannock to counter attack and with the usual silky stick work from Danny Swinnerton, he jinked between the Beeston defence, moving into their D and struck the ball from the right straight through the keepers legs. 2-0.   A few more attempts came from both sides but the half time whistle came.
The second half started and Cannock showed signs of tiredness from the hard work of the first half, this allowed Beeston to press further up the pitch and dominate more. Cannock soon found avenues of play once again and with a free hit on the opposition 25 Cannock turned the ball over to Beeston. They quickly counter attacked and with a overload, they worked their way into the D, Ollie Balcombe made a last ditch effort to clear his line but couldn’t quite keep the ball out. 2-1.
The game continued but Beeston started to apply further pressure and Cannock struggled to move the ball out of their own half. This allowed a succession of short corners, the first Beeston pushed wide, but the second flick deflected off Ollie’s pad and into the bottom corner. 2-2.
Cannock weren’t going to drop their heads and with 10 mins remaining pressed on. A short corner came their way, an initial shot from Danny deflected of the keeper and Ed Martin hit the second shot on his reverse into the roof of the net. The goal was disallowed for being above the backboard, much to the dismay of the Cannock players who thought it was the second phase shot.
Time ticked over and it was looking as thought the spoils were going to be shared, but Cannock weren’t going to let this one slip away. The ball was turned over in the Cannock half, some quick movement between the Cannock midfield allowed Ed to run at the Beeston defence, moving his way into their D, he slid the ball under the keeper for debutant Jack Rolfe who managed to make a slight touch sending it passed the Beeston defender on the line. Beeston disputed the goal and the umpires deliberated, but the goal stood. 3-2.
The last few minutes were hectic but Cannock stood firm and ground out a well deserved victory. The message of hard work and persistence certainly paid off.

Cannock L3s 5 – 0 Bloxwich
Cannock Ladies Threes travelled to a slippery pitch to go against rivals Bloxwich 2s. In anticipation of a well matched game, Cannock won push back and started as they continued to go on. With swift and smart game play, Cannock scored five goals from a strong first half against a skillful Bloxwich keeper. Cannock emerged as the dominant team in the first half, even further evidenced by Bloxwich commenting that ‘Cannock were stronger than any team that [they] had faced in the league’.
At half time, Cannock stressed the importance of finishing on strikes into the attacking circle in order to advance their last win over Bloxwich 2s of 7-2.
Despite a strong second half, Cannock failed to score again to finish on a 5-0 win that was well deserved in the harsh conditions.
Goal scorers Lucy Black 2, Vicky Wilkes, Jenna Martin, Emma Smith 1 goal each

Cannock L4s 3 – 0 Tamworth
Cannock ladies 4s hosted Tamworth 2s on a dreary Saturday morning, Cannock knew it was going to be a tough game as Tamworth beat them 2-0 in the first half of the season. Predictably Tamworth pressed from the start expecting a walk over, they were soon disappointed as Cannock upped their game winning the vast majority of 50:50 balls and their hard work was rewarded when Jemma Bowen pressed their 16 hit, won the ball and quickly passed to Man of the Match Rhia Micklewright for Cannock to go 1-0 up before half time.
Half time team talk consisted of continue with the hard work and high work rate. Cannock defence remained strong with some great saves from new keeper Penny Watt. As Tamworth continued to be frustrated Rhia got her second goal from a great passing movement starting in the middle of the pitch when Cannock won another 50:50 ball. The 3rd and final goal of the game went to Cannock 5 mins before the end with a nice strike from Hannah Inglis. The game was truly a team effort with every player giving 110%.

Cannock L5s 0 – 1 Tamworth
Cannock Ladies 5ths played exceptionally well today against Tamworth. Cannock were playing in the attacking end of the pitch for majority of their game but sadly never managed to score a goal, with the final result being 1-0 to Tamworth. Despite this result, the team should be proud of how they kept pressure on their opposition and carried on playing fantastically well. Cannock’s player of the match went to Charlotte Bellamy.
