Saturday 2nd November
Cannock M2s v Stone M3s
On Saturday 2nd November Cannocks mens 2nd team travelled to Stone HC to play a North West 2 league match against Stone 3rds. Cannock started with a 3 2 2 3 formation which was an unconventional formation for Cannock. Cannock made a questionable start conceding within 10 minutes. Changes were then made which gave the side more balance.
A key turning point was moving Sam Cattell into midfield from defence, which stopped the wobbly start. Cannocks tempo then picked up and shortly after conceding the capt. Paul Martin scored a great goal shooting from the top of the D into the bottom corner. Cannock then scored another goal through great build up play from the midfield with a cross being tapped in by Martin for his 2nd of the match.
Later in the half Sam Cattell scored a skilful individual goal, getting the ball on the outside of the D and dribbling past three defenders before taking it around the keeper to slot home. Mid way through the 2nd half Lewis Asling was clean through one on one with Stones keeper and was able to put the ball through his legs into the empty goal, this put the game to bed. As a whole Cannocks 2nd team were very dominant throughout apart from the slow start. Final score Stone 1 Cannock 4.
