The executive committee would like to extend our appreciation of Gary Stacey's efforts, hard work and dedication in the role of NL Head Coach this season. Our key objective for the 2016-17 season was to stabilise and consolidate our position after suffering relegation plus the exodus of 17 players. We have achieved this by completing the current season in 8th place and avoiding the Play-offs. After a very challenging season, we want to put on record our desire to retain Gary's involvement within the coaching structure of the club maintaining a pivotal role in our future NL set-up. A review of the highlights and lowlights of this season has strengthened our resolve to enhance our coaching capacity. In preparation for next season, we are already actively looking to develop a coaching structure for the 1st Team that involves the whole club. We are keen to provide high quality coaching to develop all club players, especially those playing in the 1/2/3rd XI, as a priority. The influence of the head coach must also extend to our junior section which we see as imperative to the future wellbeing of the club.
Ian Morris has unfortunately stepped down as manager and we would like to thank him also for his hard work in managing and catering for our NL players. The club will also be looking for a new manager over the coming months to undertake this crucial role.
Cannock Hockey Club's identity has always been and should remain as an elite club and the best in the Midlands area. To do this we need high a quality coaching setup but also our members support to make this happen.
To be the best and maintain this status requires dedication, application, commitment and desire.
