Bowdon Boys U18s 0-4 Cannock Boys U18s
Scorers: Callum Swinnerton-Ions, Callum Stacey (2), Jamie Park
A dominant display saw Cannocks boys U18 side book their place in the England Hockey National finals. An early salvo from the Nockers saw the game won in the first quarter as Cannock stormed into a 4-0 lead.
After 3 minutes Callum Swinnerton-Ions opened the scoring with a fine deflection from a precise pass into the circle which split the Bodwon defence open. The lead was doubled after 8 minutes as Callum Stacey dispatched a penaly corner, then just a minute later a delicate Jamie Park finish saw the lead extended more. In the 16th minute a penalty stroke was awarded for a foot on the line & Stacey stepped up to take the goals scored tally to four.
With the game out of their reach Bowdon decided to go for damage limitation & dropped everyone back behind the ball at all times & this tactic did achieve its purpose as Canock took their foot off the gas with the job already done.
Cannock will now go to Lee Valley Hockey Centre, Olympic Park on Sunday 29th March to play in the National Finals where the final four are Cannock, Cambridge City, Beeston & Team Bath Buccaneers.
Cannock have drawn Cambridge City in their semi-final with the final taking place later on the same day should the lads be successful.
