Cannock Badgers 'B' XI 0 - 2 Yardley Badgers XI 6th March 2010 Scorer(s): An assured and competitive performance from Cannock's Badger B XI saw them narrowly beaten by 2 goals by Yardley Badgers. From the first blow of the whistle Yardley created a chance requiring Rufus Horn, making a guest appearance in goal for Cannock Badgers, to make a save. Cannock grew in confidence from this shaky start, and with Ollie Edwards, Danny Swinnerton and Jordan Joiner battling in midfield, Lorrie Horn and Josh Roberts were able to apply pressure on the Yardley defence. Yardley continued to create chances during the first half with the Cannock defence working hard to break the moves down. However, following a swift interchange of passes between the Yardley midfield and forwards the Cannock defence and goal keeper were left exposed resulting in the first score of the game. Cannock, trailing by the single goal at the start of the second half, continued to press for the equaliser. The well-executed passing moves of the Cannock team were matched by the strength and pace of the slightly older Yardley team, with Yardley having the slightly better chances. Cannock continued to defend well with George Archer growing in confidence in the centre of defence. At the death of the second half Cannock gave away a short corner, which Yardley converted with the final hit of the game, making the final score two nil. John Ions, Cannock Badger B's coach, was full of praise for the attitude and commitment displayed by Cannock's young Badgers B players. |
