Cannock 5th XI 2 - 1 Cannock 6th XI Scorer(s): S Hyde, A Hill Cannock 5ths wanted to bounce back after a poor performance last week and had to do it in the most difficult fashion - against the 6ths who also had lost the previous week. The game started evenly with both sides having good possession. The 6ths goalkeeper, Rufus Horne, played superbly stopping a flurry of shots from the luckless 5th team forwards. With the youngsters on both sides showing there excellent potential the game produced the first goal. A poor hit from a 6ths defender led to an excellent finish into the top corner from Steve Hyde for his second goal of the season from defence. Nevertheless, the 6ths got what they deserved in the shape of an equaliser; a short corner which wasn't well defended was finished off in fine fashion from the solid Tom Edwards. The second half began with both teams still playing some good hockey, however, the 5ths made their second and most crucial breakthrough. A move which began in their own half lead to Raff Moscatiello feeding Alex Hill who coolly finished off his teams winner. Despite, the 6ths pushing for an equaliser the 5ths team won their first game in three weeks and need to push on and continue their way back up to the top league. |
