Cannock 5th XI Match Report

Cannock 5th XI   2 - 1   Barford Tigers 4th XI

Scorer(s): D Beck, A Hill

A youngish Cannock side made it four straight wins after an enticing encounter with a no-nonsense Barford side.

The game started with a quick pace which continued throughout the match, with Cannock struggling to find their feet they found themselves rightfully behind after a clinical short corner routine from Barford. Despite having a goal from a short corner rightfully disallowed Cannock were finding it hard to get into any sort of rhythm, until a moment of brilliance.

Cannock were withstanding a lot of pressure and had to settle for the odd counter-attack, with the second half looming Cannock went on the attack, Dan Beck received the ball on the edge of the D and although he had another two players with him, however, he rocketed the ball into the top corner, which is sure to be a contender for the 5th teams goal of the season.

The second half started 1-1, with both teams going for the victory which made for an exciting finish. Cannock proved to be the more clinical however, and a move that started in Cannock's half developed, with at least 6 players moving and passing the ball until Alex Hill finished the move with his 3rd goal in as many matches with a neat finish.

The game finished with some frantic Cannock defended, but it was nothing short of what Cannock's work rate and effort deserved.
