Cannock 5th XI 6 - 3 Old Silhillians 4th XI Scorer(s): G Bloomer 3, T Butler, A Hodgetts The 5th team traveled to Solihull on the back of their first win of the season looking to continue with their progress up the league. The match started better than they could have hoped winning possession off Old Sils push back and converting this into a goal after just 30 seconds of the match with a slightly scuffed shot from Raff Moscatiello beating the keeper. The first half was dominated by a large amount of Cannock possession and attacking resulting in Greg Bloomer netting a first half hat-trick. Half time came with cannock comfortably 4 - 0 up having had opportunity to have scored several more goals. The second half however was a much less convincing display from cannock, with the opposition in no mood to give up the fight. Andy Hodgetts made it 5 - 0 to cannock from a short corner with a blistering shot past the keepers near post. However sloppy cannock passing and lazy marking gave Old Sils many chances to score, thanks to some good keeping and a bit of luck they only managed to score a couple making it 5 - 2. Tim Butler hammered home a top D shot from a short corner making it 6 - 2 but the home team never gave up and once again scored late on to make it 6 - 3 which is how the game finished. Overall it was a mixed result, on the plus side another win on the board and a good first half performance, however a lazy second half performance assuming that the game was already won, could on another day have cost us the game. This second half performance needs to be improved upon if we are to finish top of this league and gain promotion. |
