Cannock 5th XI 2 - 1 Bridgnorth 4th XI Scorer(s): T Butler, A Broome Unlike their previous league games this season, the fifth team started well, and took control of the game from the whistle; unfortunately they could not convert the numerous early chances. They took the lead through Tim Butler with a well worked goal, but some poor defending lead to a well struck equaliser for the visitors, but Cannock still looked the better team and continued to pressurise the Bridgnorth defence, with good work from Dan Bosi and Dan Beck. An Andy Broome goal relieved some of the pressure, and although Cannock pushed for the third goal to seal the game it was not to be. Tim Butler was guilty of jug avoidance several times and is in danger of sponsoring the new fence behind the goal. In the end a worthy victory but should have been by more goals. Cannock travel to Old Sils next week where they hope to carry on with this winning form. |
