Cannock 4ths travelled to Loughborough Students 4ths and played some of their best hockey for months to take a 3-0 lead with goals by Dan Beck, Andy Broome and Will Fleet.

The students pulled one back just before the break but for 10 minutes after half time, Cannock looked to be in command. However the usual Loughborough pressure was cranked up as Cannock's discipline slipped and they found themselves 4-3 down after a mad 15 minutes.

But when a Loughborough player received a yellow card suspension, it was Matt Whitehouse who scored a late equaliser to claim a 4-4 draw. Dave Wigg, whose dynamism belies his age, set up 3 of Cannock's goals.
