Cannock 2nd XI   4 - 1   Beeston 2nd XI

Cannock away from home came up against a very strong and well drilled Beeston 2nd team on a very windy Sunday afternoon.

The 1st half was dominated by Beeston with some very good ball retention and Cannock having to deal with wave after wave of attack, only being denied by some great saves by Paul Parker and Matt Pritchard with a goal line clearance, It was only a matter of time before Beeston broke through the Cannock defences and scored a good goal to put the home team 1 nil up.

Cannock squandered a few chances, and despite the Beeston possession, they were still looked the more dangerous in front of goal with Plunkett hitting the post with a sweetly hit reverse stick effort.

Continued pressure saw the visitors win a short corner on the stroke of half time and Paul Harris got Cannock back to level terms with a well placed flick from the left slip position.

After the half time break Cannock started the stronger, going with the wind all guns blazing and after a great run with a number of one-two's between Dave Harris and Stu Gooderham and followed by an incisive pass to the back post where Tom Hyde was there to put the ball away.

After this point Beeston never really recovered and Cannock dominated the half with some great fast attacking hockey culminating in a cheeky goal from Dave Harris and a fierce strike from Chris Drewe from a 'well worked' short corner.

The game was enjoyed by the merry band of Cannock's travelling support.
