Cannock 2nd XI  7 - 1   West Bridgford 2nd XI

Scorer(s):D Harris 3, C Drewe 3, P Harris

Cannock travelled to the fixture with West Bridgford with 11 players due to a number of injuries and players being called up to the 1st team.

Cannock started off brightly, creating chances but these rarely resulted in quality shots at the goal. Cannock battled on but found that any quality build up play was soon brought to a halt by the destructive play of the home side.

Eventually Cannock did open the scoring through a scramble in the 'D' which resulted in David Harris slipping the ball into the goal.

Unfortunately, the next major incident resulted in a Cannock player, James Bower being struck in the mouth with a stick. The outcome of this was Bower having to leave the pitch for hospital with a gash across his lower lip and a handful of shattered teeth. This left Cannock with 10 men for the remainder of the game. Despite this, Cannock still managed to score a second before the interval to make it 2-0 at the break.

With a shake up of formation due to being down to 10 men, Cannock scrapped for everything around the park showing real desire to score more goals past the home side. Through excellent flowing moves Cannock managed to increase the lead to 5 with goals form Harris and Drewe.

West Bridgford did manage to get on the score sheet with a disputed 'chested' goal, however the goal was allowed to stand.

Further attacking pressure allowed the 10 men of Cannock to score 2 further goals to leave the final score at 7-1.

Much praise needed to be given to keeper Parker who made some good saves whilst the game stood at 1-0 and Tom Hyde for picking himself up after being struck by a defenders stick every 2 minutes.

Cannock welcome new boys in the league Telford and Wrekin to the Morris Ground this Saturday and will need an impressive performance to see them off.
