Cannock Under 9's Festival at Wolverhampton (Aldersley Stadium) 13th January 2008 Cannock Under 9s travelled to Wolverhampton in the cold, wind and rain (again!), on Sunday to participate in the latest Staffs Mini Festival. Unfortunately, the organisers had been let down by other clubs who had decided to pull out at the last minute. However, the journey wasn't wasted as games were organised against Wolverhampton Under 11s, even though this meant the younger Cannock players were competing against players more than twice their age! Cannock showed their typical grit, determination and a good level of skill. The older players such as Dominic Hoare and Jordan Joiner took on the responsibilities of play-makers, but ensuring that they involved all other members of the team. In spite of the weather, Cannock used the opportunity to put into practice the skills they've learned in training and play some entertaining hockey for the watching supporters. Special mention should go to the Cannock keeper, who both guested for the Wolverhampton side, as well as playing for their own team. Jack Rolfe had an excellent debut in goal, once again proving that Alex Bandurak's goalkeeper production line is working well. A big thank you to all the players who took part and to the parents/family members who braved the elements to support them. Our next fixture is in the Staffs Mini-Festival at Lichfield on Sunday 3rd February. |
